Ingredients:
8 ounces thinly sliced fully-cooked ham
4 ounces Swiss cheese
sliced
8 1/2-inch thick slices French or Vienna bread
4 eggs
1/3 cup milk
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
Directions:
For each sandwich, place 2 ounces ham and 1 ounce Swiss cheese
between 2 slices of bread. In a mixing bowl beat together eggs
and milk. Dip sandwiches in the egg mixture, turning carefully,
until all of the mixture is absorbed. Melt butter in a large
skillet or on griddle. Place sandwiches in skillet and cook
slowly 8-10 minutes; turn and continue cooking until cheese is
melted and both sides are golden.
